My parents were Doris and Alf. Dad was affectionately known as Bill.

I have one sister and two brothers. We were very much a service family. Dad was a Warrant Officer 1st Class, who was in the R.A.O.C of the British Army for nearly 30 yrs. We were based all over the world. It became a way of life for us to live in a place for a short period of time, then we would move on again, staying in many places along the way. I guess we were lucky to see the world and how others lived. It was never easy for us to make close friends, as we never knew when we would be off again.

R***, my oldest brother is in the Royal Navy. He joined just after leaving school and a submariner on the nuclear submarines based in Scotland.

M*** my other brother, was in the Merchant navy but later joined the French Foreign Legion just like some men do when they have a hard time dealing with life, as he did. He was deeply in love with a girl who broke his heart and he ran away to his own world, until he was forced to leave after he became ill. During his time in the foreign legion, he contracted malaria, and has relapses from time to time.

He has written a book, about his adventures in the foreign legion, maybe later on I hope to add some of his work for you to read, if he will let me.

My sister, S*** is nearly 5yrs older than I am and was a very successful career minded person. She has 2 children, both now grown, grandmother to a boy and another grandchild is on the way.

S*** and I were born in Colchester in Essex, but we moved to Gibraltar when I was just 3 months old.
